Composite bonding is one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments we offer at Ashtree House Dental Practice — and for good reason. In a single appointment, our experienced cosmetic dentists can repair chips, close gaps, reshape uneven teeth and dramatically brighten your smile, without drilling or removing healthy tooth structure in the majority of cases.
Our team has delivered composite bonding treatments to patients across Wooburn Green, High Wycombe and the surrounding Buckinghamshire area for many years. Whether you’re looking to correct a single chipped tooth or transform your whole smile with a full set of bonding, we’ll guide you through every option — honestly and without pressure.
Knowing who is treating you matters. Every composite bonding treatment at Ashtree House is carried out by a GDC-registered dentist with specific postgraduate training in cosmetic and aesthetic dentistry.

Composite bonding is a cosmetic procedure in which a tooth-coloured resin material is applied directly to the surface of your teeth, sculpted into shape, and hardened using a special curing light. It can be used to treat one tooth or a full smile.
Because the composite is bonded to the existing tooth — and little to no enamel removal is required in most cases — it’s considered one of the most conservative cosmetic treatments available. It’s sometimes called a “one-hour smile makeover,” and for good reason: many single-tooth treatments are completed in a single appointment.
Our dentists use composite bonding to address a wide range of cosmetic and functional concerns, including:
Your Initial Consultation
Before any treatment begins, you’ll have a full consultation with your dentist. This is your opportunity to explain what you’d like to change, ask questions and understand exactly what composite bonding can (and can’t) achieve for your particular case. Your dentist will assess your teeth, discuss the shade of composite that will match your natural smile, and outline the treatment plan and costs.
We always recommend completing any teeth whitening before composite bonding if you’re planning both — because once the composite resin is placed, it cannot be whitened further. Matching the bonding shade to freshly whitened teeth gives you a consistently brighter, more uniform result.
The Treatment Appointment
For most patients, no anaesthetic is needed. Your dentist will:
A single tooth typically takes 30–60 minutes. Full-mouth composite bonding involving multiple teeth will take longer and may be staged across appointments.
With good oral hygiene and sensible aftercare, composite bonding typically lasts 3 to 10 years. Longevity depends on the extent of the treatment, the position of the bonded teeth and your habits. An annual polish is often recommended as the composite material can stain more readily than natural enamel.
Looking After Your Bonding
| Treatment | Tooth Preparation | Lifespan | Reversible? | Typical Cost (per tooth) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Composite Bonding | Minimal / none | 3–10 years | Largely yes | From £265 |
| Porcelain Veneers | Enamel removal required | 10–15+ years | No | From £525 |
| Crowns | Significant tooth reduction | 10–15+ years | No | From £675 |
Composite bonding is the most conservative starting point. For some patients, porcelain veneers or crowns may ultimately be a better long-term solution — your dentist will always give you an honest recommendation based on your individual teeth and goals.
From £265
We offer composite bonding as individual tooth treatments and as packages covering multiple teeth, making full-smile transformations more accessible. Finance options are also available — please ask our team for details.
Prices vary depending on the number of teeth treated and the complexity of the work required. We provide a full, transparent cost breakdown at your consultation, with no hidden fees.

In most cases, no anaesthetic is needed and most patients find the procedure very comfortable. If a tooth has existing decay that needs to be addressed, or the work is close to the nerve, a local anaesthetic may be used.
It can make teeth appear more even and improve their appearance, but it’s not a substitute for orthodontic treatment. In some cases, we may recommend a combination of composite bonding and clear aligners (such as Invisalign) for the best outcome. Dr Pooja Tailor is an accredited Invisalign Go Plus® provider.
Yes — in experienced hands, composite bonding is virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. Our dentists are trained specifically in shade matching and sculpting techniques to achieve a seamless result.
The composite resin itself cannot be whitened. This is why we always recommend completing teeth whitening treatment before placing composite bonding.
Most adults with good underlying oral health are suitable candidates. Your dentist will assess your teeth at your consultation and confirm whether composite bonding is the right option for you.
